Diggers and Dealers Wrap Up

Back to news & events

With the presence of the WA School of Mines for over 100 years in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Curtin University has been an integral partner of the Diggers and Dealers conference which took place in the city from 5 – 7 August 2024.

For the first time this year, the Resources Technology and Critical Minerals Trailblazer supported a formal program of tours for attendees of the conference on Curtin’s Kalgoorlie campus. The tours were well attended each day of the conference, including Diggers and Dealers Chairman Jim Walker, as well as Senior WASM Alumni members.

The tour was guided by campus Director Tanya Chambers and featured presentations from senior academic members on research currently being undertaken at the university including some projects that have received funding from the Trailblazer program. Lab tours were also undertaken to showcase the university capabilities to broader industry, including visitors from as far away as USA and South Korea.

Despite (indexed) critical minerals prices at a three-year low, the forum broke attendance records with 2800 delegates, drawing miners, stockbrokers, investors and media convening in for the annual mining forum from across the globe. It was a fantastic platform for the Resources Technology and Critical Minerals Trailblazer to promote the success and outcomes of the program to date.
